The Center for Disease Control recommended using hydrogen peroxide for disinfecting healthcare facilities in 2008.   http://www.cdc.gov/hicpac/disinfection_sterilization/7_0formaldehyde.html Hydrogen peroxide does its work without fumes, such as with chlorine. There are different concentrations of this available. But even the 3% commercial grade is a disinfectant. It needs to be left on the surface for 2-30 minutes….
